- Positively ChargedTo celebrate the almost end of the first semester, winter benchmarks in Star 360 will wrap up this week. In math, we've dropped from 62% of students below 40th percentile ranking to only 50%, meaning 140 kids have moved out of the concern area. Much of this improvement has been made at SES. Being a CSI school, that is a great success. Their math benchmarks show kindergarten up 29%, first grade is up 43%, second grade is up 22%, third grade is up 14%, and fourth grade is up 11%. In reading, we had only 4% moving from below to above the 40th percentile ranking. This is an overall improvement that we hope to see more of by the end of the year.

- Reports of Committees
- Superintendent's RemarksI went to the Capitol to meet with legislators earlier this week, including Vice Chairs of the House Education Committee, Chris Toney and Joe Statler. We discussed some changes for the state aid formula to support personnel funding, which would ultimately benefit all counties, especially smaller counties. With four elementary school closures approved this year, we have to make sure to work as efficient as possible and find ways to produce more revenue to avoid further closures.
