    1. West Virginia School Boards Association Delegate Assembly (2/8/2025)Mr. Mace presented his updates on the delegate assembly on February 8th, including possible changes in the fee structure for WVSBA. We are working towards forming an advisory group of small counties.
  7. Superintendent's RemarksThe state board rejected a rule to change the classification system for the WVSSAC, therefore, the current classification system will remain. A bill has been proposed to change the SBA (Buidling) to the SMA (Maintenance). There is concern that public education will receive only a small increase in the budget bill. In the 6-year plan it shows state aid decreasing by $15 million per year for 4 years through fiscal year 28/29. Other bills of interest so far include a bill that gives low income families in counties with school levies an exemption from that tax and a bill that offers charter schools access to unused school buildings and spaces and will require public schools to publish a list of those spaces. Also, the House Education Committee is getting a presentation from the department on the state aid formula and their intention is to open up the formula.
