- Positively ChargedWe want to recognize our students who have made great academic achievements throughout the year. For Spencer Middle School, we have 3 Golden Horseshoe winners: Katherine Stump-Cohen (SMS), Jessie Westfall (SMS), and Nathan Osborne (WEMS). They will be recognized in June by either the State Superintendent or the Governor. At Spencer Elementary School, we have 2 Regional Science Fair 1st place winners: Jack Workman and Gracie Rhodes. For the Regional Social Studies Fair, we have Moxxie Stepp and Elaina Hamilton. At Walton Elementary Middle School, 23 have Regional Science Fair placers: Cora Raines, Hayden Rector, Brycen Craft, Caden White, Zander Carpenter, Emma Mace, Jordyn Nichols, Makynlee Patton, Naomi Raines, Jonah Rector, Hayden Rector and Cora Raines. For the Regional Social Studies Fair, we have Summer Bell (honorable mention), Anna Smith (honorable mention), Hayden Rector (1st place), Jonah Rector (1st place), Avery Shafer (2nd place) and Leah Smith (2nd place). For the State Social Studies Fair, Hayden Rector placed 3rd. For the County Spelling Bee, the Roane County Spelling Bee Champion was Jonah Rector. Cora Raines, Briana Teel, Caden White, and Jonah Rector were participants. At Geary Elementary Middle School, Brynlen Sowards participated in Young Writers. For State Science Fair, Danielle Osborne won the State Science Fair. For the Reagional Social Studies Winner, Lexie Williams, Peyton Abnathy, Sunny Miller, Dixie Jacobson, and Brenna Shears participated. At the Governor's School, Cailee Mounts, Jaylan Sullivan and Joseph Swiney were winners. The Math Field Day winners were Korey Osborne, Danielle Osborne, Abby Conley, Anya Helms and Gracie Boggs. Maddyson Martin and Gracelynn Boggs participated in the All State's Children Chorus and Joseph Swiney, Cailee Mounts and Colby McCune participated in the All Region Band.Theresa Parker presented that the Roane County Social Studies Fair was on February 18th at Roane County High School and 31 projects were submitted from Faith Christian Academy, GEMS, WEMS, and SMS. RCHS had 5 projects that moved on to the Regionals. 12 projects went to represent Roane County at the Regional Science Fair held at Blennerhassett Elementary School. All 12 placed and 3 earned blue ribbons, moving them up to the State Social Studies Fair. On April 11, 2024, Jonah Rector, Hayden Rector, and Lacey smithy participated in the State Social Studies Fair and Hayden Rector placed 3rd. Congratulations to all students that participated. Also, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We want to recognize our teacher for their hard work. With testing this week, it is nice for teachers to see they're appreciated.

- Approval of Contract with Michelle Stellato as Superintendent of Schools effective July 1, 2025 Motion by James Minney and seconded by Daris Harper to go into an executive session to discuss the superintendent contract with Michelle Stellato. Richard Duncan was not present for this executive session. Motion carried. (7:34 pm)Motion by Eileen Richardson and seconded by Dennis Carpenter to return to open session. Motion carried. No action was taken in closed session. (8:58 pm)Motion by James Minney and seconded by Eileen Richardson to give a 2-year contract to Michelle Stellato as Superintendent of Roane County Schools. She will be paid $107,000 on the first year and $110,000 on the second year, semi monthly, pending execution of the contract. Motion carried. (9:01 pm)

- Superintendent's RemarksThere are some end-of-year activities coming up, such as award ceremonies, graduation and field trips. Also, at the next meeting, we will be recognizing our student athletes who have achieved great things this year, as well as anyone we missed this evening with academics. In addition, as part of Governor Morrisey's Mountaineer Mile efforts, students are going out walking. It is a good way to get kids moving during instruction.
