2. New Business for Consideration and Potential Action
   1. Discussion and possible action to require the Superintendent to prepare and present to the Board an impact statement, with supporting data, for the Board to consider in deciding this Fall whether to close and consolidate any school(s) or grade level(s).Motion by Dennis Carpenter that this board directs Ms. Stellato and her staff to prepare and submit to this board no later than September 5, 2025, an impact statement and supporting data concerning proposed closings or consolidations of Walton Elementary Middle and Geary Elementary Middle Schools, placing affected students in reconfigured and renamed Spencer Elementary and Spencer Middle School, which is to be submitted to the West Virginia Board Of Education for approval in accordance with West Virginia Board Of Education Policy 6204, adhering to all relevant sensitive timelines and requirements of this process relating to Roane County Schools. Motion by James Minney and seconded by Daris Harper to amend the above motion to change the submission date to September 11, 2025, and add Roane County High School as one of the affected schools. Motion carried.
