    Remarks

    • Ms. Brown and Dr. Duncan met with Head Start in Charleston on Wednesday
    • There is much talk about an upcoming education bill. Dr. Duncan visited the Capitol and spoke with Delegate Rick Atkinson and Senator Eric Tarr about education issues and the need for upgrading Lick Fork to provide emergency access / exit from RCHS campus. He spoke with Bob Ashley, Governor's Legislative Director, and discussed what he can do for us in the Governor’s office.
    • During Superintendent’s Conference in Bridgeport, Dr. Paine discussed the legislative outlook. With the Governor, the Senate, and the Speaker all supporting the 5% pay raise, Dr. Paine believes that should pass. He also believes that there is great value in a united front amongst educators
    • Concerning the upcoming bill, we have been contacted by employee organizations that have been interested in this bill. One major concern is the possibility of public charter schools.
