- Positively ChargedRoane County 2022 Teacher and School Service Person of the Year winners are David Halcomb, a Social Studies Teacher at WEMS with 37 years of service, and Alison Cox, our Accounts Payable Supervisor with 29 years of service. Congratulations to both our winners and good luck as they will represent us at the state level.
- Public ParticipationTheresa Parker presented on the Social Studies Fair in Roane County. It was held on Friday, February 18th at SMS. 33 projects were entered, 15 moved on to the Regional Social Studies Fair on March 19th at Blennerhassett School. Of the 15, 11 qualified for the State Social Studies Fair at Charleston on April 29th. Of the 11, 7 projects placed. Faith Christian Academy held their fair on Feb 15th. 2 were entered and moved on to the Regional Social Studies Fair, but did not qualify to move on. Winners: 1st Place, Division 2, World History: Natalie Mertz and Tanner Saunders (SMS) "Irena Sendler, Holocaust Hero" 2nd Place Division 2, Anthropology Group: Payton Chandler, Addison Lowe, and Kayla Ross (WEMS) 3rd Place, Anthropology Individual: Anthony Thornabar (SMS) "History of Baseball" 3rd Place, Division 2, Geography Group: Brody Hall and Dakota Moore (SMS) "Ten Plagues of Egypt" 3rd Place Division 2, State and Local Studies, Individual: Emma Sloan (WEMS), "The Dark Past of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum" Honorable Mention, Division 2, Psychology, Individual: Addison Wilson (WEMS) "Won't You Be My Neighbor" Winner, Division 3, U.S. History, Individual: Ella Wilson (RCHS) "The Death of String Beans"

- Superintendent's RemarksWe will be meeting with Thrasher and the SBA to go over our plans for the new SMS. After this process we can go out for bids. The current SMS entrance is still waiting for the glass to arrive so they can finish soon and we are still working on the finishing touches at the WEMS nursing station. Also, the football field is in progress and on track with the drainage system and curbs nearly completed. The Superintendent's meeting is in Fairmont tomorrow with a topic of discussion being the discussing the statewide job bank.
