  7. Superintendent's RemarksCentral Office administrators have been rotating in at Walton to cover the principal's office, but hopefully starting on Wednesday, the need for that rotation will end. We will have 5 principals in place, along with their LSIC, ready to go for the school year. The posting for Treasurer goes down tomorrow and we have 3 candidates in the pool. We will do interviews and hope to select someone at the next meeting. The interesting situation that has developed is that school checks need 2 signatures, 1 for the Secretary and the other the Principal, with the Treasurer always being the 3rd just in case. Currently, the only person that can sign checks would be the school secretaries because all principals have changed places and the Treasurer is leaving. We do have contingencies in place and should have things situated properly soon. We've been working with coaches to squeeze in as many SMS games at the field here, but the real test will be on Monday when we have an SMS soccer game and a RCHS JV game. In the future we should be able to get everyone together so we can schedule both games and practices here as well. We received an update on WVEIS 2.0. I was just given access to the database that I need to be able to start pulling kids into Schoology. I hope to have that working soon. On MetroNews, there has been much talk about the rift between the state board and legislature. We shall see how things go in the session in the Spring. I have been invited the State Board Finance Committee, along with 3 other county superintendents and 6 treasurers. This committee was formed a few years ago with the intention to rewrite the state aid formula. I have also been invited to join the Professional Teaching Standards Committee, which looks at teacher licensure and makes recommendations on how to address problems with teacher licensure issues that we have. There is also a disciplinary part of the committee that can revoke teachers/administrator licenses. These should be only a couple of meetings per quarter and mostly virtual, but I'm glad to serve and represent the smaller counties. WVSBA meetings start tomorrow. Superintendents meet from 9:30-11:30. The schedule there is booked solid to hear from Mr. Roach and then right into the accountability model and the balanced scorecard.
