   1. Positively ChargedThe state Department of Education just published the results of the 2022-23 WV General Summative Assessment for all counties. Roane County placed 2nd in the state for mastery growth in ELA and 7th for mastery growth in Math in the state. Our overall mastery growth in ELA and Math was 11.15%, which makes us first place and most improved in the state overall.

7. Superintendent's RemarksI recently met with superintendents of Clay, Calhoun, and Wirt Counties to discuss small county challenges. Equipment has arrived as part of our outdoor classroom project at Roane County High School. Our maintenance crew built a new planter box in front of the school and the Division of Highways donated the stone. The first bits of new furniture for SMS should be arriving next week at the current school. Open house schedules have GEMS, WEMS, and SES on 8/21, SMS on 8/18, and RCHS on 8/22. Times will be posted.
