    1. Positively ChargedMs. Stellato has presented certificates to classrooms who led the county and their improvement in the Star360 benchmarks between the beginning and middle of the year. This shows how fast our kids are improving their standing compared to their peers nationally.
    2. Public ParticipationParents, Holly McCarty and Lisa Smith, expressed their concerns with 5th Grade at Geary Elementary / Middle School.

    1. Create Teacher / Special Education (Behavioral Disorders), Roane County Schools (home base to be assigned as determined by student needs) [1 position]Motion by Dennis Carpenter and seconded by Eileen Richardson to approve. Motion carried. (6:47 pm)
    2. Approval of Recommended Vendor for Equipment for the New Spencer Middle School under FCC Form 470 #24003944 and Authorization for Superintendent to Execute Related ContractsMotion by Daris Harper and seconded by Dennis Carpenter to approve. Motion carried. (6:49 pm)
    3. Consideration of Recommendation to End Administrative Leave and Suspend without Pay Employee A, an AideMotion by James Minney and seconded by Dennis Carpenter to to go into closed session to discuss this personnel issue, as per WV Code 6-9A-4(2)(A). Motion carried. (6:50 pm)Motion by Eileen Richardson and seconded by Daris Harper to return to open session. Motion carried. No action was taken in closed session. (7:44 pm)Motion by James Minney and seconded by Dennis Carpenter to follow the recommendation of the Superintendent to suspend Ashley Freeland, Aide / Special Education Assistant Teacher at Spencer Elementary School, for 3 days without pay and further require that she attend retraining and be reassigned as an Aide at the discretion of the Superintendent.     5. Consideration of Offers for the Madison Avenue complex and Capitol Street complexMotion by Daris Harper and seconded by Dennis Carpenter to go into closed session to discuss property matters, as per WV Code 6-9A-4(b)(9).     1. Roane Jackson Technical Center Administrative Council (December 19, 2023)Planning continues on the new building with some sketches on the wall with brick patterns. Mr. Cummings and his team will be visiting another site to see what else might be out there. They may be getting that out for bids this late winter or early spring. There will be no programs changing next year.
    2. Faculty Senate Minutes (December 22, 2023)
  7. Superintendent's RemarksToday is day 2 of 60 so we should look for legislative updates to start coming. Mr. Brown has been keeping us up-to-date and may give us weekly updates. So far, the bills that were proposed last year didn't make it. There are some new ideas, but we will see how that progresses.
