- Compensation
- Salary based on experience and education level per Roane County salary schedule. Expected range: $41,859 (0 years + Bachelor's) - $73,428 (35 years + Doctorate).
- Health and basic life insurance provided through West Virginia's Public Employees Insurance Agency. Health insurance premiums, which vary by plan and coverage level, split 80/20 between employer and employee. Basic life insurance provided at no cost to the employee.
- Position requires enrollment in the Teachers Retirement System through West Virginia Consolidated Public Retirement Board. New enrollees contribute 6% of gross salary with a matching contribution by the Board of 7.5%. Vestment requires 10 years of qualified service. Withdraw of employee contributions available upon leaving employment with a WV county board of education if deisred.
- 15.375 annual days of personal leave provided, pro-rated for those hired after the start of the current employment term. Up to 4 days may be used each school year without cause pursuant to state and local policies.
- Pro-rated local attendance incentive (up to $500) provided for those who use fewer than 6 days of personal leave each school year.
- State attendance incentive ($500) provided for those who use 4 or fewer days of personal leave each school year.

- Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education preferred.
- Meet qualifications as outlined in West Virginia Code 18A-4-7a.
- Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia Board of Education in Minimum Standards for Licensure of West Virginia School Personnel.
- Exhibit knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the classroom teacher and behavior interventionist with the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as demonstrated in a personal interview, which will be weighed heavily in the search/selection process.
- Specialized training in behavior modification and behavior management.
- Demonstrated experience collecting relevant data to help track and modify inappropriate behavior.
- Ability to develop, implement and monitor individual behavior plans.
- Ability to develop, implement and maintain student data collection system for students with specialized behavioral needs.
- Ability to create and implement a standards-based individualized education program for student needs and monitor progress through the collection of appropriate data.
- Maintain and participate in professional development, focusing on behavior interventions and strategies, instructional practice, MTSS, and other relevant topics as required.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate e?ectively with students, school personnel, parents, community members, and WVDE personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate students, set high academic standards, and incorporate behavior intervention strategies during instruction.
- Possess good evaluations and/or recommendations in previous work-related performance and evidence of high academic achievement in teacher preparation programs.
- Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess academic content to assigned students (based on grade-level content standards and individual needs).
- Foster a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, both academically and socially.

- Monitor student progress towards the mastery of instructional and behavioral goals.

- Demonstrate behavior that reflects established professional responsibilities (i.e. attendance, punctuality, verbal/nonverbal communication).
- Participate in activities, meetings, and workshops that foster professional growth specific to challenging academic and social needs of children assigned to the classroom.
- Comply with all local, state and federal policies/laws.
- Work collaboratively with others.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or other supervisor.
