Qualifications
- Currently hold or previously held classification of General Maintenance, or passage of state competency exam for General Maintenance
- Currently hold or previously held classification of Electrician, or passage of state competency exam for Electrician
- Per WV Code 18A-4-8, must hold a journeyman's license as an electrician issued by the State Fire Marshal.
- Must be or be eligible to and become certified to use pesticides.
- Demonstrate good working skills in dealing with a variety of building and equipment maintenance tasks.
- Demonstration of good human relations skills. Logical decision making abilities
Responsibilities
- Clear brush, cuts grass, digs ditches, and performs other minor grounds maintenance duties
- Responsible for shoveling snow from board offices
- Load and unload trucks, move or haul items such as supplies, office furniture, and building materials
- Assist in building repair, working with a plumber, electrician, carpenter, etc.
- Service county automobiles to the extent of filling with gasoline, checking the oil and wiper fluid, etc.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks of heating and cooling systems, such as changing filters and checking seals and duct work
- Assist in the coordination of the building maintenance program
- Install power switch gear
- Install electrical conductors and motor starters
- Install relay panels
- Install electrical lighting
- Terminate electrical lighting and electrical wiring
- Install instrumentation devices
- Debug and test process equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Align rotating equipment
- Document amp and voltage readings

- Properly ground equipment before use
- Use the National Electric Code (NEC) to determine specific requirements for systems
- Follow lockout / tagout procedures
- Apply safety principles during working operations
- Perform related work as required
- Insure that each project and piece of work is executed and completed in a manner which insures total safety and integrity.
- Shall perform general repairs to buildings and grounds.
- Establish priorities and recommend changes and repairs on equipment and as new concepts become proven.
- Know structural strenths knowledge of various building materials, and be aware of and adjust or alter where large panels disturb a stressed area.
- Observe work hours and allow for timely clean-up, and secure job site before leaving.
- Identify steam, gas, adn water pressure capacities of operating units and safety pop-offs, valves, metering, and margins involved for safe operation.
- Know theiry and practical application of valves, traps, circulating pumps, water source heat pumps, pneumatic and electrical controls applied to operating plants.
- Must be able to follow specifications of unit manufacturers' diagrams.
- Shall comply with all national heating and air conditioning codes.
- Perform any other reasonable and appropriate task/duties and assume such responsibilities as the Superintendent or immediate supervisor may assign.
