    Qualifications

    1. A minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience.
    2. Demonstrate successful strategies utilizing whole group and small flexible group instruction.
    3. Demonstrate an understanding of the five components of reading and an in-depth knowledge of phonics, phonemic awareness and decoding skill.
    4. Possess knowledge of scientifically based reading research; core standards; test item analysis and interpretation; motivational techniques; classroom management; relevant Reading strategies and parental involvement.

    Responsibilities

    1. The coordinator will assist in the use of benchmark assessment, monitor school reading data, and assist teachers and parents in the understanding of data; work closely with the principals and county administrators; promote all activities and events planned by the grade level reading grant; promote independent reading, conduct reading contests, & organize special literacy events, in coordination with the Title I Program.
    2. The successful applicant will be expected to attend training for progress monitoring benchmarking and other trainings deemed appropriate. Duties will include providing Benchmark, Strategic and Intensive reading instruction and other duties as applicable to and stated in The West Virginia Leaders of Literacy: Campaign for Grade Level Reading Grant of Roane County Schools.
