    Qualifications

    1. Meet qualifications as outlined in West Virginia Code 18A-4-7a.
    2. Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia Board of Education in Minimum Standards for Licensure of West Virginia School Personnel.
    3. Exhibit knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the classroom teacher and the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as demonstrated in a personnel interview, which will be weighed heavily in the search/selection process.
    4. Show ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, parents, and community members.
    5. Show ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others.
    6. Show ability to motivate students and lead them to become independent learners.
    7. Present evidence of high academic achievement in teacher preparation program.
    8. Possess good evaluations and / or recommendations from educational instructors, professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors.

    Responsibilities

    1. Plan and deliver lessons to assigned students, including remediation, practice, and enrichment levels, with a focus on positive behavioral instruction and support.
    2. Facilitate individual, small group, and large group behavioral intervention environments as needed.
    3. Model new and innovative strategies, best practices and research-based behavioral strategies/techniques, while providing demonstration teaching.
    4. Develop a systematic approach for the seamless integration of behavior supports and interventions into the classroom.
    5. Maintain professional work habits demonstrating cooperation and flexibility in working with school instructional staff.
    6. Attend appropriate local and state meetings and conferences.
    7. Attend professional training as needed.
    8. Keep abreast of current research on student behavioral support.
    9. Keep abreast of current behavioral support and intervention strategies and learning models.
    10. Utilize and implement instructional management systems designed for remediation of reading difficulties.
    11. Evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe appropriate programs to meet student needs.
    12. Communicate with classroom teachers to insure appropriateness of intervention techniques.
    13. Perform assigned duties as assigned by the principal or assigned director.
