- Positively ChargedAll four of our bands, WEMS, GEMS, SMS and RCHS competed in the regional Ratings Festival in Williams Town. SMS and RCHS received a superior rating. Congratulations to their success. In boys basketball, Cam Cumpston earned a 1st Team LKC and honorable mention all-state, and Will Odle earned a 2nd team LKC. In girls basketball, Anna Tolley earned 1st Team LKC and honorable mention all-state, Braylin Bowe earned 2nd Team LKC, and Ella Keen, Amelia Pope and Josie Cox earned an honorable mention at the conference level. Last week, a ceremony was held at RCHS to award a diploma to area veteran Arther LeMaster, who joined the military prior to completion of high school.
- Public ParticipationValerie Mace stressed the importance of the upcoming superintendent search. Robin Stump highlighted the accomplishments of Dr. Duncan during his time here and stressed the importance of moving forward in a positive manner. Rachel Hays- spoke concerning leadership, climate, and culture in Roane County and stressed putting words to action as we move forward. Tiffany Raines expressed concern for the RIF and transfer process. Chad Strimel stressed that criticisms offered should be constructive and therefore, valid. Dennis Carpenter, Board member, read a letter from Gemini Carpenter recommending Jerry Garner as the next Superintendent of Roane County Schools.

- Youth and Middle School Wrestling Facility ProposalMotion by James Minney and seconded by Dennis Carpenter to authorize the superintendent to work with the Roane County Wrestling Boosters considering this project. Motion carried. (7:16 pm)
- Consideration of MOU for Future Leaders Program for 2025-26Motion by Dennis Carpenter and seconded by Eileen Richardson to table the item. Motion carried. (7:27 pm)
- Update on the sale of the old Spencer High SchoolMotion by Dennis Carpenter and seconded by Daris Harper to put a April 24th deadline for receipt of payment. Motion carried. (7:31 pm)
- 2019 Bond Construction Program, ESSER Program, and FY 24 Audit Report
- Approval to Begin Procurement Process for Financial Auditing ServicesMotion by James Minney and seconded by Daris Harper to authorize Treasurer Ann Hardman to seek bids for auditing services for a 3-year term. Motion carried. (8:36 pm)
- Community Committee Update
- Updates, discussion, and possible action regarding the appointment of a county superintendent to serve a one to four year term beginning July 1, 2025, and matters related thereto.Motion by Dennis Carpenter and seconded by Daris Harper to go into an executive session to review candidates for the superintendent position. Dr. Duncan did not participate in this executive session. Motion carried. (9:15 pm)Motion by Eileen Richardson and seconded by Daris Harper to return to open session. Motion carried.
