    1. Positively ChargedRecognized students that won academic awards during winter and spring. Others may be recognized at the next board meeting on June 6th. Model United Nations Conference Participants: -Suraya Boggs -Gracie Hall -Kiran Boggs -Colby Lewis -Ember Lewis -Kaitlyn Holbert -Cameron Bennett Poetry Out Loud: -Suraya Boggs placed top 10 in the division and also earned top 10 in the state division. She also performed a poem out loud for board members. Golden Horseshoe winners: -Grady Fountaine -Kenzie Litton -Karli Greathouse Social Studies Fair: -Alex Lepp received an Honorable Mention at the Regional Social Studies Fair with a project on "The Rise and Fall of Spencer State Hospital" -Brock Tanner received 1st place in the Regional Social Studies Fair and went on to State to compete with project, "From Picture to Pencil". Young Writers Competition: -Nola Parsons -Kallie McCutcheon won 3rd place award at state level
    2. Presentation of Stop The Bleed Kits to Roane County Schools by Roane General HospitalJulie Carr, Chief Clinical Officer at Roane General Hospital, presented on the Stop The Bleed Kits, which RGH has provided for Roane County Schools. These kits are provided to help stabilize patients before an emergency responder arrives

    2. Adoption of three-week summer practice periodMotion by Jeffrey Tanner and seconded by Gregory Boggs to approve the weeks of June 10th, 17th, and 24th as the three-week summer practice period. Motion carried. (6:51 pm)
    3. Naming of 4-H / FFA Youth Livestock BarnMotion by James Minney and seconded by Jeffrey Tanner to to name the 4-H / FFA Youth Livestock Barn in memorial of Paul Cummings. Motion carried. (6:53 pm)
    4. Renewal of Probationary Contracts for the 2019-20 School Year (current position and contract type for 2019-20 is noted)

    1. Roane-Jackson Technical Center Administrative Council (5/16/2019)Met on May 16 to approve the contractor for the summer SBA-funded work on the sewer system and some classroom additions. Still expecting to need a new welding instructor in the fall, but nothing is official just yet.
    2. Spencer Middle School Planning Committee (5/16/2019)Attendees put together a long wishlist for the new middle school, some of which included having a solid CTE Program, and having collaborative spaces (work / project spaces). We are looking to visit other schools this summer for ideas/ In September, the SBA requests a basic submission to let them know you will be presenting your request in October/November. Thrasher will provide some sort of renderings/drawings on building, classrooms, collaborative spaces, etc.
  6. Superintendent's Remarks1. The last day of school for students is on Tuesday, June 4th 2. Commencement at Roane County High School is on Friday, May 31st. 3. What was anticipated to happen in legislature may not happen. Until decisions are made, we are unsure what will happen. Budget has been approved and should be published by the State Department in the next couple of weeks. 4. Received our first bill for the bond project. A vacuum truck will be at Geary School next week to take the ballast off the roof, and the same work will soon happen at RCHS. Motion by Jeffrey Tanner and seconded by Gregory Boggs to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 6:00 pm at Roane County High School. Motion carried. (7:28 pm)
