   1. Positively ChargedWe have all learned a lot this school year, but we are happy to see it is finished and we can look on to our quickly approaching Summer SOLE Program.

   3. Student AchievementThough test scores were expected to be lower, it is surprising that student achievement this year has not shown a pronounced difference when compared to previous years. The qualitative trends were still similar. We had major struggles with distance learning and quarantines, but if the pandemic didn't sway things too much either way, we may have to take a closer look to see what is going on. Also, there are currently 193 students enrolled in the K-8 summer program, which beats our usual 60 or 70 students and we still have more students enrolling. Teachers will be training all week next week and the programs starts on June 21.

   4. Superintendent's Evaluation for 2020-21Motion by Gregory Boggs and seconded by James Minney to go into closed session to discuss the Superintendent's evaluation for the 2020-21 school year. (9:55 pm)This Summary Statement of Superintendent Evaluation for Dr. Richard Duncan was given on June 10, 2021: In accordance with WV State Board of Education policy 5309 and RCS Policy 121, the members of Roane County Board of Education have completed their evaluation of Dr. Richard Duncan for the SY 2020/2021. Board members were provided a WV State approved evaluation tool consisting of 56 criteria points across 9 separate categories, along with the Superintendent's goals for the 2020/2021 school year. Dr. Duncan also provided a narrative response to these goals for all board members. Each board member independently completed an evaluation document based on those responses. The Board President compiled and presented one aggregate report to the whole board for discussion of Superintendent's strengths and weaknesses, as well as the Board's own performance as the public body also in charge with the educational responsibility of Roane County. During this formal evaluation, the Roane County Board of Education found Dr. Richard Duncan to have met or exceeded the standards set forth in all 9 categories set forth by the evaluation tool. Improvement in future performance for both the Superintendent and the board were also a part of this discussion. Changes in terms, benefits, and salary were not discussed, as Dr. Duncan's contract was not due for renewal in 2021.
